Guiding our approach to genomics
Purpose
The Genomics Australia Advisory Council has been established to support the Australian Health Genomics Commissioner in guiding the strategic direction of Genomics Australia. The Advisory Council will provide independent advice and insights from health genomics experts and individuals with lived experience.
Membership and representation
Members of the Genomics Australia Advisory Council have been appointed for their expertise and interest in genomic health technologies and include:
- Consumers and health care advocates
- Diagnostic and clinical professionals
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Industry and health technology professionals
- Researchers
- Government representatives.
All members will serve a two-year term.

The Genomics Australia Advisory Council will meet up to four times per year, with its inaugural meeting in December 2025. Meeting communiques will be published here.

International Collaboration
Genomics Australia is also exploring the establishment of an international collaboration to complement and support the work of the Advisory Council.
The collaboration will bring together leading international health genomics experts to share knowledge and key learnings from genomics initiatives across diverse global health systems.
Professor Kathryn North AC, recognised worldwide for her leadership in health genomics, will be the Australian representative for this important collaboration.
