Leadership, expertise and coordination

Genomics Australia collaborates with clinicians, industry, researchers, governments and communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to identify and remove barriers to using genomics in health care.

Genomics Australia fosters international partnerships to share insights and promote the ethical and equitable application of health genomics globally.

Genomics Australia’s initial priorities include:

  • Enhancing access to personalised cancer care by integrating genomics into standard care models, informed by Australian research and international best practice
  • Deepening understanding of community priorities, values, and expectations and
  • Supporting national approaches to genomic information management, with a focus on interoperability, security, and privacy.

In addition, Genomics Australia is working with all Australian governments to finalise the National Health Genomics Policy Framework and Implementation Plan 2026–2030. This framework will outline strategic priorities and provide a roadmap to guide the continued integration of genomics into the health system.
