Partnerships

Achieving improvements in genomics requires collaboration across governments, researchers, healthcare professionals, communities, and industry. Genomics Australia works collaboratively with these groups to support alignment, reduce duplication, and help create a clear pathway for integrating genomics into everyday health care.

Building global and local alliances

International collaboration enables countries to share knowledge, experiences, and lessons learned, which helps avoid duplication of effort and accelerates progress. Collaborating across borders supports the development of interoperable systems and ensures equitable, effective, and ethical integration of genomic technologies into health care.

Genomics Australia supports this by actively monitoring global and local developments and forming Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with other countries to align efforts and drive shared progress.

Working with states and territories

The Australian Government through Genomics Australia is working collaboratively with state and territory governments to strengthen health genomics across Australia.

Genomics Australia will also collaborate with state and territory governments to implement the National Health Genomics Policy Framework and Implementation Plan 2026 - 2030, once approved by all Australian governments.

By aligning efforts and sharing expertise, Australian governments are working together to improve access, equity, and outcomes for all Australians through the responsible and effective use of genomics in health care.

Framework

Collaboration across Government

As part of the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, Genomics Australia brings expert knowledge and skills to support the consideration and inclusion of genomics across the Department’s priorities. By collaborating across policy areas, Genomics Australia ensures that advice to the Australian Government reflects key health genomics considerations—helping embed genomics into everyday health care through coordinated, expert input.

Genomics Australia also works across the Australian Government. Whether in health, education, industry, or beyond, Genomics Australia plays a role in bringing genomics insight to policy and program development across the Commonwealth, to ensure that nationally significant issues are informed by expert health genomics advice where needed.

Genomics Australia is also focused on building collaborative relationships locally. Find out more on how Genomics Australia is linking to the sector and community through the links below:
